THE SHACK author William P. Young at TCU

Is God Really This Good? an Evening with William P. Young
One of the age old questions of faith is the character and nature of God, particularly in the face of a world wracked with suffering and pain. In his book, The Shack, William Paul Young imaginatively and creatively answers this question in life-giving ways that challenge rigid concepts of God and what it means to be in right relationship with the divine. Wrapping stories that have emerged from The Shack and from his own life, Paul Young addresses the question of who is this God, really? And who are 'we' to this God?
William Young will be speaking at TCU Ed Landreth Auditorium on February 11, 2010 at 7 PM

I was told by a pastor that it I should have been healed of my depression after reading The Shack.

I wasn't.

The story is filled with egregious theological assertions rooted in human emotions and desires and not the truth of God's Word.

It denies evil, reduces the enigmatic majesty of the Trinity to human imagination, undermines God's sovereignty, makes God's nature transient and changeable, and reduces essential Christian doctrines to a matter of personal preference and tastes.

It is good to remember this book is a work of "fiction". According to the Missy Project goals listed within the publication, however, it would appear that The Shack claims to be more than just a story; having the ability, as one pastor told me, to heal, transform and change people's lives.
